The mighty Potala Palace, Drepung Monastery, Barkhor market and the holy Jokhang Temple are just a few of the fascinating sights we will take you to. We will more take you on an unusual voyage to the famous Tashilhump Monastery at Shigatse or Xigatse, the historic town of Gyantse, and the beautiful lake of Yamdrok Tso amidst the spectacular view of snow capped peaks including northern face of majestic Mt. Everest.
For thousands of years, Tibet lay under the ancient Sea of Tethys. Tibet has been a mysterious and timeless land for centuries, cut off from the rest of the world by the mighty Himalayas. In spite of innovation it has reserved the beauties of its past, such as the fascinating Gompas, ancient markets, ever-smiling and fun-loving Tibetans and its amazing turquoise lakes. The journey passes through Nepal-Tibet border, through beautiful mountains and farming valleys.
Nepal to Lhasa Overland tour is the most adventurous route among the others as it offers the panoramic views of the high mountains including the highest peak Everest (8848m) with Langtang, Xixapangma, Makalu, Lhotse, Cho Oyu etc. We get chance to pass by the high passes like Nyalam Pass (3750 m), Tong-La (5120m) La Lung-la (5124m), Gyatso-la (5220 m) etc.. We drive passing Tingri (4390 m) to visit Gyantse, Tibet’s second-largest city, lying near the union of the Nyang Chu and the Tsang Po, on the main route between Gyantse and West Tibet.
Day 01: Drive Kathmandu to Zhangmu (altitude - 2300m/ 7,544ft) 123 Kms:
Early morning drive to Kodari. After finished immigration and custom formalities drive uphill to Zhangmu Immigration Post. O/N at guest house or hotel.
Day 02: Zhangmu to Xegar (altitude - 4050m/ 13,284ft) 244 Kms.
Drive to Xegar crossing Nyalamu Pass (3800m) & LALUNG LA PASS (5050m). This drive offers fantastic view of the high mountains including Everest (8848m). O/n at guest house or hotel.
Day 03: Xegar to Xigatse (altitude - 3900m/ 12,792ft) 244 Kms.
Drive to Xigatse has the famous Tashilunpo Monastery and the seat of Panchen lama. O/N at guest house or hotel.
Day 04: Xigatse to Gyantse (altitude - 3950m/ 12,956ft) 90 Kms.
In the morning visit Tashilunpo Monastery and the free market of Xigatse. In the afternoon drive to Gyantse and visit Phalkor Monastery and Khumbum Stupa O/N guest house or Hotel.
Day 05: Gyantse to Lhasa (altitude - 3650m/ 11,972ft) 259 Kms.
The drive to Lhasa takes approximately 08 hrs crossing two passes – The Karo La (5010 M.) and Kamba La (4794m.) via Yamdrok Tso lake. O/N at hotel.
Day 06 & 07: Lhasa sightseeing tour.
these days you will be engrossed with sightseeing and excursions of the Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Sera Monastery, Drepung, Norbulingka, Barkhor Square. O/N at hotel
(Note: Only a limited number of visitors are allowed to Potala Palace every day. So the order of sightseeing places to be visited will be decided by your guide.)
Day 08: Lhasa to Gonggor airport 90 Kms then flight to Kathmandu.

Transportation
We use the best 4WD Land cruisers (Toyota 4500) for the overland drive across the Tibetan highland. These vehicles are extremely sturdy, spacious and reliable and they make the journey as comfortable as possible.
A Typical Day – Overland Drive
After breakfast, normally begins your our day's drive at about 9am. We'll drive for several hours, stopping along the way for photographs or places of special interest, before stopping for lunch at around noontime. After lunch we continue our journey, generally arriving at our destination by 3 or 4pm.
Communication
Communication facilities in Tibet have been improved over the past few years. All the hotels we use in Lhasa, Gyantse and Shigatse have international IDD phone and fax services. Phone calls can also be made from public booth in bigger towns. Internet cafes are also available at bigger towns, check with your guide for the best cyber cafes in each town.
Temprature & Clothing
Tibet will have its average temperature between 5-25 degree Celsius in the month of April through Nov. During trekking season, the night temperature in the mountain often falls below freezing. Therefore, you are required to have adequate warm clothes to save from extreme cold. Further, it will be better to dress in layers that can be easily put on & off as required. It is often advisable to carry raincoat because snow or rain can also occur sometimes. So, we highly recommendation to visit in Tibet is from April to November and for treks and Mt. Kailash tour from April to the beginning of October.

Health
It is necessary to be physically fit & healthy for the participate on Tibet tour. We suggest you to consult your doctor at least 2 months prior to your trip regarding the main health consideration in high altitude sickness. In addition, those who are sufferer of high blood pressure, heart problem or diabetic are not recommending for the Tibet overland tour.
Insurance
Nepal Hiking Team we cannot be held responsible or liable for loss, damage, or theft of personal luggage and belongings, nor can they be held liable for personal injury, accident or illness. Please ensure that you have yourself and your belongings adequately insured before your departure. Insurance is compulsory for all our trips. If you do not possess a policy, we can issue insurance at competitive rates. It is however better to purchase your policy locally as this will cover you for repatriation back to your home country.
