Jhomolhari Trek

Druk Path Trek

The Jhomolhari Trek is one of the most popular treks and a favouravle with trekkers. It is a truly amazing trek amidst the beauty of the himalayas that leaves one with an ultimate satisfaction and fulfilment. The trek starts off from the ruins of Drugyal Dzong, follwoing a river at 2500 meters to an altitude of 4820 meters at Yalila Pass. The Jhomolhari Trek is consider as Bhutan's most spectacular trek and it offers spectacular views of the 7314m JHOMOLHARI, JECHU DARKEY (6989m) and TSHERIM GANG (6789m).

The Jhomolhari Trek passes through scattered hamlets and farmland into a deep and richly forested valley, which leads to a high alpine pastureland where yak herders graze their animals. The Jhomolhari Trek offers a sampling of the diverse variety of the Bhutanese landscape. The best seasons to roam around are April to June and September to November.

The Jhomolhari Trek is probably one of the most beautiful and un-spoilt trekking areas in the entire Himalaya. Rich and varied vegetation from richly forested valley to high alpine pastureland where yak herders graze their animals, trout fishing in the sky blue lake, magnificent views of snowy mountains and the Himalayan blue sheep and snow leopard can be encountered on this trek.

The Jhomolhari Trek takes you through narrow fertile valleys to wide open yak pastures, across high passes to close-in winding river valleys, through villages and old ruins of dzongs to yak herd camps, from high alpine mountains to semi-tropical forests. You can catch spectacular views of the high ridges and snow -capped peaks, of crashing rivers, feeder streams and waterfalls, of the majestic grandeur of Mount Jomolhari and Tserim Kang and its glaciers while having the Jhomolhari Trek.
